ARCHIVE: Improvising Generations 2018
(May 2018 –June 2018)
Improvising Generations was a five-day project, incorporating a four-day residency of dance and music improvisation which finished with a screening afternoon at Trestle Arts Base. The project was managed by BEEE Creative CIC with artistic input from Laura Chiabolotti, Jane Eve, Matthew Smith and Think About It Films. Taking place at Trestle Arts Base and Highfield Park in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the project worked with an intergenerational group aged 13 –82 years old, with and without disabilities. The process resulted in a 5-minute film called ‘Corridors of Time’ being produced that was presented at three Hertfordshire events, U.Dance 2018 and online.
“Very interesting, aspiring and sense of achievement with a group of people (strangers initially)"
“I really enjoyed working with everyone and people of other generations."
- Although the project only reached 16% of participants who do not currently take part in dance activity, 100% of the participants were new to the U.Dance programme. 16 participants attended the National Festival in Ipswich and all participants either completely agreed or somewhat agreed they felt part of the National event.
- A new partnership was developed with Trestle Arts Base, with the expectation of now going on to collaborate on future intergenerational inclusive dance projects.
- A new partnership was developed with the Highfield Park Trust that for BEEE Creative CIC piloted collaboration with the Environmental sector that will inform potential future outdoor work.
- Participants identified improved sense of well-being in how they felt and their engagement with others.
