Claire Hackston

LEAP PROJECT ARTIST

Claire studied Contemporary Dance at London Contemporary Dance School, where she discovered her passion for working with young people. Since then, she has performed with Katie Dale-Everett Dance in their school's tour of Virtual You and worked with Wessex Dance Academy, both as a dancer in Company Wessex and as an assistant Dance Artist, helping teach vulnerable young people. She has also worked as a guide / performer for M-SET's immersive installation 'To the Moon and Back' at the Barbican. As a teacher Claire has worked with The Place delivering their Partner School's project since 2018 and as part of their Children and Youth Dance programme 2021-2022. She has also taught contemporary, ballet and street at various dance schools for ages 3-18 years and creative dance for 0-5 years at Studio Wayne McGregor. In 2022 Claire completed a MA (Distinction) in Applied Theatre where she was able to develop her practice working with young people and in educational settings.
