BEEE Dance and Heritage

Museums in Motion

Museums in Motion was a series of community dance and technology participation projects that took place across six museums in Hertfordshire with artistic direction by MakeAmplify. There have been three iterations of the project so far with the first taking place at Royston, Stevenage and Watford Museums. The first project worked with three groups of young people aged 4–18 years old and their families. Each museum had a three-day creative process resulting in an audio-visual installation.
Museums in Motion 2.0 was a series of 6 Residencies in Hertfordshire museums. Using the question ‘What’s inside your mobile phone?’ as stimulus, the museum collections were explored through participation in creative activities –dance and technology. As well as the residencies, two one-year youth leadership programmes were delivered, providing further progression for previous participants to go on to develop leadership skills, and developing their skills in film making, dance and curating.
This project is available to be delivered in other museums.
